Wendi McDonald
Registered Veterinary Technician
Wendy grew up in Saint John with a house full of animals. She now lives with her husband and kids on Darlings Island along with her dog Louie and cat Kidden. Kidden is a 9-year old male orange Tabby cat, who is very sweet and cuddly despite “not being as smart as the average cat”. Louie is a 2-year old Jack Russell Terrier that loves attention and snuggling.
Wendy’s passion for animals is what drove her to become a veterinary technician. It means so much to her to help those who cannot speak for themselves. She graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a degree in Sports Science then attended Oulton College and completed the Registered Veterinary Technician Program in 2009.
Outside of the clinic Wendy enjoys spending time with her 2 kids Evelyn who is 3-years old and Oliver who is 8-years old and her husband Thumper as well as her friends. She lives an active life by going to the gym and playing sports including soccer and ultimate Frisbee. Travelling has always been a passion of hers, but has slowed down a lot since children although they do take a few family vacations throughout the year, and maybe squeeze in the odd “couples” getaway,
Wendy is an important member of the team as she has many roles as a technician. She ensures that surgeries run smoothly and keeps the animal’s health in mind at all times.
When asked if she would be a dog or cat and what breed, Wendi said “If I were a dog I would be a Labrador Retriever because I love to eat and the water. I also have the tendency to become fixated on one thing (like a dog to a ball) and can have some huge burst of energy, but then crash and fall asleep at the drop of a hat.
